Talking is not the only way to communicate - allow time for processing things that are said and for formulating responses (whether they be verbal or nonverbal) 3. Approaching a stranger’s house is already a pretty involved demand, not to mention when the path is uneven, unfamiliar, and crowded with others - consider stepping out or sitting in the driveway to be more accessible for others; you can also pre-bag treats and even help put the treats into buckets or bags for others 4.
